Poker Rules Introduction
Poker is arguably the most popular card game in the world, played across many continents. It is played for money and sometimes not even for the money.
Regardless of whether it is played for jelly babies at a kitchen table, in a friendly weekday game, or by obscure looking professional players who solely play online poker for vast amounts of money, the majority aspire to be a "good player".
The best of getting better and finding out how good you are is to play other "good players", and there is only one place to find them, here!
Everyone has to start somewhere, so read on in order to learn the basics of the game...
All poker games use a standard 52 card deck, and the cards are ranked as follows: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace. (Aces count as both high and low). There is no weakness’ or strengths in the suits of the cards, they are equal apart from a couple of minor situations (like deciding who deals the very first hand).
The objective of the game is to get the best five card hand possible out of the cards you are dealt, whilst referring to the appropriate hand ranking from high to low.
