Game Rejection

Money saved is as good as money won

There is a real stigma attached to the word ‘quit’ but in poker, knowing when to quit a cash game is a huge skill. Money saved is as good as money won and it really sucks to have lost money in a game you know you shouldn’t have been playing in any more.

There are several reasons to quit playing a cash game, but the main reason is when you feel you don’t have an edge any more. Most likely this will be when the fishy players have left or been cleaned out, but it could also be when some superior players have sat down.

Your position could be very bad which is another reason to leave, perhaps you do not have position on the bad players any more or are out of position to a crazy aggressive player who is giving you a hard time.

Or you simply might not be feeling your best, if you think you are getting tired, losing focus or just otherwise not playing well, get out of the game. Even some of the best players do not know when to quit a game and its one of those underestimated traits of a disciplined winning player.
