How to Increase Tables

Make small gradual advancements over weeks

You should treat multi-tabling in the same way that you would lifting weights at a gym, making small gradual advancements over weeks and months rather than trying to do more than you can handle right away. Make sure you are a long term winning player before you even bother to try and after that, increase tables one at a time. You might even want to add the additional tables in smaller time periods, so only adding table 2 for the second hour of a two hour session etc. Only when you feel truly comfortable with two tables and are winning at a steady rate should you increase to three and so on.

You cannot afford to play fancy when you multi table because you need to maximise your concentration on the stuff that matters. Playing tricky takes up too much mental energy, because to do it well you need to have very good reads on the table, which you can’t claim to have because of the observational problems with multi tabling. For that reason, you should stick to very solid hands, which shouldn’t be a problem because you are getting dealt so many more.

All the tables you play should be the same sort of game, because it’s too much of a mental ask to mix things up. A no limit cash game on one table and a PLO tournament on the other will just be too confusing, so stick to the same games so that you are in the right frame of mind across all the tables.

Your player notes become more important as you play multiple tables, because you cannot rely on your observation as much, you need to make up for it by making detailed notes whenever you can to refer back to.

Finally if it feels too hectic, it is too many tables. You have to feel comfortable and relaxed as you multi table, not frantically making decision after decision. You will probably know where your peak is and more importantly, when you start losing money because of silly mistakes (or even worse, you keep timing out at a table) then it’s time to reduce the load.
