WSOP Day 25 - Jon Kalmar

27th June 2009

Kila arrives in town and after 3 weeks apart I am looking forward to seeing her. She’s been roughing it while I been here in Vegas with trips to both Spain and Italy. On her flight was a drunken Kevin O’Connell (TioKev) with his good Lady Leona (honestly, he was drunk).

Her flight had been delayed by an hour and a half which was a right result. After a late night it meant I could still get a lie in. We went for dinner at the Japanese place here at Caesars and afterwards was joined by Mr Luckbox himself John Magill. After a couple of drinks at Caesars we decided to try a few at the Bellagio. Rather than pay the extortionate prices we played the poker games at the bar.

Now John Magill (yobenike) runs well at everything except video poker. He claims he has never hit quads once. This isn’t generally a game I excel at either unless John is around. After Kila had made quads twice and myself around 7 times he was on video poker tilt. I pointed out that had he chosen my machine and not his, he would in fact be winning, this didn’t seem to help. Nor did it help that every time I made quads I shouted “Well about time!†I even offered to swap machines but he didn’t like that idea either.

This is the first poker I have played since Tuesday and it was good to have another winning day. It was only around 600 bucks but as far as I am concerned it counts! Hippy Bob joined us somewhat at a lost end. He had been abandoned by his colleagues. I keep telling him to put the camera away but he won’t listen.

Kila was beginning to fade and had done quite well still being awake at all. Me and John wanted a quick craps session and she agreed to wait. By 3 am we were about 1700 up between us but Kila couldn’t last any longer. To be fair I was proud she’d gone that long. Besides she had to get up early tomorrow to crack on with the ironing.

We returned to Caesars where Kila went to bed and me and John tried another few spins, this time to no avail but we’d broke even for the night.

John soon regained his form back at the MGM and won a chunk at black jack on his way to bed. Unfortunately I was not part of that little venture.
