WSOP Day 28 - Jon Kalmar
30th June 2009
Today was never gonna be a busy day after the Voodoo party, well not for me. For the Ladbrokes qualifiers on the other hand it was the main satellite to try and win a seat for the main event.
Feeling somewhat tender I arrived at the Rio for the start of the event around 3.30pm. Looking around the room many of the players were in similar condition to me. I was not envious watching them play. Richlizard arrived late. He had been found that morning asleep in Caesars lobby and was escorted to bed by security. Good lad!
We returned to our hotel and I opted for a power kip. No beer today. The skalie pub crawl is tomorrow and I was determined not to feel as bad when we start that.
Later we decided to watch a show, and went for the Comedy show in Harrah’s. We went last year and I have to say it was a great night. Despite the name it is fortunately stand up comedy and not some people prancing about improvising like the old channel 4 show “Who’s Line is it Anyway”.
Unfortunately most of it still wasn’t funny. Maybe it was my tender state but I was struggling to get into it. The compear was very annoying. The 1st act was ok but just a string of endless one-liners. The woman at the end was some sort of singing impressionist. It was obviously and old and dated act. I laughed more watching Schindler’s list.
