Day 7

Cruise IV Live

All good things come to an end eventually and so did the last day of the Ladbrokes Cruise IV. Before the farewell party could start at the ice rink on the 4th deck (YES, they even had an ice rink on the ship!), we still had some tournaments to finish and important titles to be won.

Day 2 of the £1500 High Roller started at noon with 4 players still in the tournament. The High Roller title finally went to "Birkey" who took home £8.5k followed by Swedish "Kreuzerzeit" who cashed in over £5k. Third was Pen_15 who received £3.4k.

The final table of the £250 event was also played on the last day and the winner of this tournament was "Thinkjat" from Finland. He was one of the first players to qualify for the Cruise in 2010 after taking part in our Silver freeroll which had a cruise package as a prize. Hard to believe, but the £500 main event on the cruise was "Thinkjat"s first ever live tournament. To then go on and win the £250 event can only be described as an amazing achievement.

Once the £250 had been wrapped up, there was one more thing to do - get glammed up and ready for the farewell party! The party kicked off in style with cocktails flowing and canapés for everyone to enjoy. First up on stage was Kate McLennan and Marios Diamandi from Ladbrokes awarding out the cheques to the winners from all the different tournaments. After that we saw various artists up on the stage - singing from the Ladbrokes staff and Royal Flush dealers, Steve Mills' stand up comedy show (which didn't spare anyone from abuse..;) and last but no means least, Ladbrokes sponsored pro Skalie's version of "Teenage kicks".

So, here we are back at our desks in Ladbrokes HQ and everyone has more or less recovered from the jet lag (and from the fact that some were lucky enough to get upgraded to a much needed bed on the flight back...;).

It feels almost surreal that the much awaited event we have been planning for over a year is now behind us. However, the "events" blues won't last for long as we are straight back into organising our next flagship event, Killarney Poker Festival 2011. We really hope to see you all there again, whether you are a Killarney veteran or have been inspired after attending the Cruise. For now we leave you with a teaser from last years Killarney event (see video below).

Keep an eye on your emails and our website as more information about the qualifiers coming your way soon.

Once again, on behalf of the whole Ladbrokes crew, thank you for taking part on the Ladbrokes Cruise IV. The surroundings were superb, but it's the players that make an event and we had an amazing bunch with us from all over Europe. We really look forward to seeing you all soon again.

Ladbrokes Cruise IV updates, over and out.
