Day 12
Today is the penultimate day of this year's World Series of Poker, although it is of course the final day this summer, following Harrah's controversial decision to stage the final table in November. Amongst those still in with a shout is the final remaining Team Ladbrokes player, Peter "Pete4002" Eastgate, from Denmark. He has 9,325,000 chips and currently lies 4th in the standings.

Going into Day Five, the young Danish pro Peter Eastgate was handily placed in 13th. Now, following Day Five, with over 4 times as many chips and a fairly kind seating draw, the 22 year old has a real chance at becoming the World Series of Poker Main Event champion in 2008. Certainly his sights will be set on at least a seat in November's televised spectacle after what was a near-perfect day at the tables.
Playing conservatively early on, it wasn't until after the first break that Peter had his first big hand. The short-stacked Chris Zapf found pocket kings on the cutoff and pushed all-in. Peter called from the blinds with the 6-3 of clubs, and enjoyed an inordinately helpful flop of 2-4-5 rainbow. The 7-7 turn and river sealed Zapf's fate.
After accumulating further with some well-timed betting, Peter then played executioner for the second time in the day. He saw a flop of Qc-8d-7d with Mauro Lupo and saw his bet 200,000 re-raised all in for 1.2 million total. Eastgate called with Ad-Kd for the flush draw and overcards to Lupo's Qd-Jh. The turn was the very helpful Ks and when the Th fell on the river, Lupo was eliminated.
Peter then proceeded to take large pots off Nicholas Losev and Tim Loeke late in the day to leave him on an extremely large stack. The seat draw for today has been kind, as Peter has managed to avoid the three biger stacks:
Joe Bishop (4,855,000)Peter Eastgate (9,325,000)
Gert Andersen (6,740,000)
Kelly Kim (8,840,000)
Brandon Cantu (4,740,000)
Dean Hamrick (2,375,000)
Ivan Demidov (4,965,000)
Niklas Flisberg (1,330,000)
Michael Carroll (1,015,000 )
