July 14

The Headlines

  • Team Ladbrokes player 4th out of last 27
  • Overnight leaders eliminated
  • Three tables to play to one today (Monday)

As the 2008 World Series of Poker moves today to the emergence of a Final Table (to play in November), Team Ladbrokes’ Peter Eastgate is in 4th place out of the remaining 27.

The one surviving Team Ladbrokes player, a 22 year old poker professional from Denmark, has 9,325,000 chips and has performed magnificently in tough circumstances.

Both the 5th and 6th Day overnight leaders Jeremy Joseph and Mark Ketteringham lost their massive chip stqacks and were eliminated yesterday (Sunday) and two players now have over 10 million - the leader Dennis Phillips from St Louis (11,910,000) and Craig Marquis (11,460,000).

A Brit, Aaron Gordon from Brighton, is in the last 27 with 1,790,000, but Keith ‘The Camel’ Hawkins went out yesterday, as did James McManus from Dublin.

Phil Hellmuth and Mike Matusow were the last big names to go out yesterday but Tiffany Michelle from Los Angeles is in 3rd place.

Today (Monday) the players are all guaranteed $357,334 but of course our own Peter Eastgate and the others will have greater ambitions – to get to the Final Table and come back in November aiming for the $9 million-plus first prize.
