European Ladies Championship 2008

The Ladbrokes.com European Ladies Championship (ELC) has returned for a third year, and this year's winner is Liv Boeree!

The Kentish poker player, presenter and journalist beat off the stern challenge of fifty one of Europe’s top female tournament players to claim the title of “European Champion” and first prize of $30,000.

This year had a fantastic line up, with top players such as WSOPE winner Annette Obrestad, Bev Pace, Louise Duffy and Katherine Hartree lining up against last year's winner Jackie Meecham, poker journalist Shelley Rubenstein and the poker world's newest recruit, Abi Titmuss!

The ELC 2008 had a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, which was shared amongst the top ten finishers who made it to the final table:

The tournament was filmed over the May bank holiday weekend at the London Studios on London’s South Bank, overlooking the Thames. The play will be edited into six one-hour shows, and broadcast on Sky Sports in late summer.
