This information will be updated and there will be new versions added as and when new information becomes available. In addition, Ladbrokes Poker prides itself in the personal service given to all customers, so a Cruise Hotline and dedicated email address have been set up for any additional questions you may have in relation to the 2008 Poker Cruise. Cruise Hotline: 00 44 (0) 1372 277 722
    Email Queries: cruise2008@ladbrokespoker.com

For those who have qualified or bought a place on the cruise, we expect to despatch your cruise tickets with relevant travel information approximately 3 weeks before the departure date.

    Registering your Details Online

The process of on-line registration for the Cruise is now more complex due to new regulations. Ladbrokes will be asking you to provide us with certain essential information about yourselves and your guest(s) via an on-line registration form which will be available from July 2007.

The process of registration for the Cruise will be via the Royal Caribbean on-line registration system where you will need to provide more detailed information. This will also give you the opportunity to pre-book excursions and register credit card details for on-board charges. You will not be able to register with Royal Caribbean until you have your booking ID which will be notified to you around 4 weeks prior to travelling.

    Travel Requirements & Important Information

You will be responsible for making your own return travel arrangements to New York to join the cruise. However, our cruise team will be happy to offer advise and assistance for all guests joining us so please do not hesitate to contact them. The travel allowance included for most qualifiers is intended as a contribution towards your travel expenses.

New Regulation has been passed in the USA which requires cruise lines to obtain information about guests in advance of their cruise taking place. Without this information Royal Caribbean Cruises will not be able to give authorisation for you to board. All qualifiers are required to provide this information for themselves and all guests. Please be assured that this information is only passed on to the cruise company by Ladbrokes, and will not be used for any other purpose.

NB: All information including your cruise ticket must correspond with your passport or travel documentation that you will be travelling with. If you fail to supply the details requested fully and accurately, it is possible you may not be permitted to board the cruise ship. Ladbrokes will not accept any liability in this situation and we will not pay you any compensation or make any refunds.

Passport, Visa, Information and Health Requirements

It is the sole responsibility of the qualifier to identify all travel documents and obtain and have available when necessary the appropriate valid travel documents for them and their guests. This includes passports, visas, inoculation and family legal documents. If failure to have this information results in fines, surcharges or other financial penalty being imposed on either Ladbrokes or Royal Caribbean, you may be responsible for reimbursing us accordingly.

Failure to present the necessary documents and / or visa at the airport / pier / ports of call could result in denied boarding. We are unable to guarantee your place within any tournaments if you are denied boarding for any reason.

    Passports

Valid passports and visas (including multiple Entry Visas, where applicable) are required to enter the USA. For more information on the entry requirements we recommend you visit the following links online for Passports and Visas.

    Passports

    Visa's

    Will I need a Visa?

Travellers to the United States for tourism or business for up to 90 days from qualified countries may be eligible to visit the U.S. without a visa. Currently 27 countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program, they are as follows:

    1. Andorra
    2. Australia
    3. Austria
    4. Belgium
    5. Brunei
    6. Denmark
    7. Finland
    8. France
    9. Germany
    10. Iceland
    11. Ireland
    12. Italy
    13. Japan
    14. Liechtenstein
    15. Luxembourg
    16. Monaco
    17. Netherlands
    18. New Zealand
    19. Norway
    20. Portugal
    21. San Marino
    22. Singapore
    23. Slovenia
    24. Spain
    25. Sweden
    26. Switzerland
    27. United Kingdom

All travellers entering the U.S. without a Visa must have a machine readable passport. You can check if your passport is machine-readable by seeing if there are two lines of text printed on the white stripe at the bottom of the personal information page. If there is no white strip, or the white strip is blank, the passport cannot be read by a machine and you will need to apply for a Visa to enter the U.S.

You should not attempt to enter the U.S. with a passport requiring renewal within the next 6 months. If your passport requires renewal before July 2008 then please make sure you renew it before you travel.

If you do require a Visa to enter the U.S. then generally you should apply to the American Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over your place of permanent residence. Although visa applications may apply to any U.S consular office abroad, it may be more difficult to qualify for the Visa outside the country of permanent residence. Please ensure you allow plenty of time for your application to be processed.

Before traveling to the U.S. you should check the current security measures in relation to carrying liquids and gels in hand baggage. Your airline will be able to advise you of the latest restrictions.

Travellers with Minor Traffic Offenses and those with Arrests and/or Convictions

Travellers who have been arrested, even if the arrest did not result in a criminal conviction, and those with criminal records are required to apply for visas. If they attempt to travel without a visa, they may be refused entry into the Unites States. For more information and details regarding travellers who have committed traffic offences check the following link:

    http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/niv/arrests_and_convictions.html

    Health / Inoculation

All guests must ensure they are medically fit for travel. The Centres for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) provide guidelines as to which Vaccinations may be required in each country we are travelling to. In many cases inoculations are recommended but in some circumstances they are required. You may also want to check with your Doctor to see if they recommend any special inoculations.

NB: Due to enhanced procedures by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service, guests departing the ship at the end of their cruise may be subject to possible delay. You may also experience long delays coming through immigration on arrival.

    Travelling to New York

Explorer of the Seas will sail from the Cape Liberty Cruise Port on 25th January 2008. Cape Liberty Cruise Port is located on the New York Harbour in Bayonne, New Jersey, and is just seven miles from New York City and three miles from Newark Liberty International Airport. Its waterfront location and convenience to the Big Apple allows visitors easy access to everything New York City has to offer for those who wish to enjoy some time in this great City.

Embarkation time on 25th January will be between 1230 – 1530 (to be confirmed) so all guests will need to stay over in the area on the night of 24th January to be sure they don’t miss the sailing. Of course, you may want to extend your stay and enjoy a few nights in New York City before we sail!

On disembarkation day (3rd February) we will arrive back at Liberty Cruise Port early in the morning and will disembark around 0900 – 1000. Travel Insurance

You are responsible for arranging your own travel insurance for this trip. Ladbrokes and Royal Caribbean have no automatic responsibility for costs or losses, including but not limited to medical expenses, loss or damage to baggage, trip-cancellation and so forth, therefore it is essential you arrange adequate insurance for your own protection.

You may be asked to produce proof of travel insurance on embarkation day, so make sure you have a copy of the insurance certificate or some other form of proof with you when you travel.

We recommend that you carry all medication, travel documents, valuables and any personal items that will meet your needs until your luggage is delivered to your cabin on board the ship.

    Embarkation Day

Embarkation time on 25th January 2008 will be between 1230 – 1530 (to be confirmed) so all guests will need to stay over in the area on the night of 24th January to be sure they don’t miss the sailing.

Final details of the embarkation procedure will be confirmed nearer the time – watch this space.

    Weather & What to Pack

During this cruise, we will be sailing from the winter weather of New York to the sunny Caribbean, so you will need to pack for different weather conditions. In addition, you need to be aware of the on board dress code for the evenings. The dress code on board mainly relates to those who wish to enjoy formal dining in the restaurant, if you do not wish to dress up you can always eat in the informal ‘Windjammers’ Restaurant.

    New York

The city's coastal location ensures that winters are not as cold as inland cities on the same latitude with temperatures generally no lower than the 10s and 20s Fahrenheit (-12 to -2 °C). Snow is common in winter, but the amount varies, and winter rain is common.

You will need warm weather clothes plus gloves, scarves and hats. The first few days at sea will also be quite cold, so pack enough should you wish to go out on deck.

There will be several formal nights on board so suits/ evening wear will be required if you wish to eat in the main restaurant. At other times smart/casual clothes will suffice.

    Caribbean

During the early morning hours of an average January day in the Caribbean, you can expect the temperature will be in the vicinity of 72F (22C). The temperature will rise over the course of the typical January day, reaching somewhere around 82F (27C) by early afternoon. By early evening, temperatures in the Caribbean generally decline to around 75F (24C).

Cool, comfortable, lightweight clothes are in order here - shorts, t-shirts and of course swimwear! Days on board are relaxed and you'll be most comfortable in sports/ casual wear. Bring low-heeled shoes for the deck activities and for ashore, you'll need comfortable walking shoes. If you intend to use the gym, don’t forget your training kit!

    Evening Wear Guide

Casual: Sundresses/ trousers and blouses for women. Shirts and trousers for men.
Smart Casual: Dresses or trouser suits for women. Jackets for men.
Formal: Cocktail dresses for women. Suits and ties or tuxedos for men.

Each evening, our ship's main dining rooms feature a different menu and a changing dress code. You will receive a more detailed itinerary with nightly dress code with your travel documents.

    Food and Drink

There are several restaurants and cafes on board the Explorer which are:

Promenade Café: A coffee shop serving speciality coffees, teas, cakes and Ben & Jerrys ice cream.

The Windjammer: The perfect place for casual meals, serving breakfast, lunch buffets, afternoon tea and informal evening dining.

Johnny Rockets: American Diner serving burgers and other American food, with entertainment from the waiting staff.

Main Restaurant: A restaurant located across 3 decks, offering a different menu each evening for all guests, which will require you to wear the appropriate dress code for the day.

Portofino Restaurant: An exclusive, classical Italian restaurant offering fine dining, superior service and panoramic views in an intimate setting. The Portofino is ideal for a special evening and you will need to book a table in advance. There is a $20 surcharge per person for this restaurant.

    Ports of Call and Excursions

Once you receive your final travel documents for the cruise you be given a unique booking ID which will allow you to pre-book your excursions on the Royal Caribbean website. There is also the opportunity to book excursions on board, but this is subject to availability.

New York City, New York (Cape Liberty)

We sail from Cape Liberty Cruise Port, which is located on the New York Harbour in Bayonne, New Jersey and is just seven miles from New York City and three miles from Newark Liberty International Airport. Its waterfront location and convenience to the Big Apple allows visitors easy access to everything New York City has to offer along with providing visitors access to the historic roots of Northern New Jersey.

All qualifiers will need to arrange a one night stay in New Jersey on the 24th January to ensure they make the sailing time on the 25th January. New York, the city that never sleeps, is surely one of the most exciting home ports in America. Spend your time exploring one of the greatest cities in the world before heading south to the Caribbean Sea.

    San Juan, Puerto Rico

San Juan is the second oldest city in the America’s. Its pastel-coloured houses, wrought iron balconies statue lined plazas and narrow, steep streets paved with cobbles of blue stone are in stark contrast to this spirited modern city that bristles with boundless, excited energy. Away from the city, Puerto Rico is known for its windsurfing, deep-sea fishing and arguably, as the world’s best location for kite-flying. Top Tip : Venture to the lush and spectacular El Yunque Rainforest, with exotic species of birds and plants, some seen nowhere else in the world; an experience not to be missed.

    St Thomas, U.S.Virgin Islands

Since the trade winds brought the schooner and clipper ships of old, St.Thomas has been a duty free port. Today, in the bustling capital of Charlotte Amalie, named in honour of the Danish Queen in 1691, restored Danish warehouses that once traded skills, guns and gold, now house a fabulous variety of shops and boutiques selling a wealth of modern-day treasures from around the globe. If shopping isn’t your bag, St Thomas offers a superb selection of home-grown goods, from fabulous historic landmarks such as Fort Christian and the legendary Blackbeard’s Castle, to the stunning Magens Bay, the perfect place to swim, snorkel or simply relax. Top Tip : Dronningens Gade is a veritable warren of narrow alleys, malls, passageways and alcoves that simply burst with a kaleidoscope of stores offering fantastic bargains.

    Excursions include:
    Atlantis Submarine - 2 hrs - £52*.
    BOSS Underwater Adventure – 3.5 hrs - £54*
    Captain Nauticas Power Raft – 4 hrs - £39*.
    Coral Land & Coral Sea – 3.5 hrs - £30.
Deep Blue Sea Helmet Dive – 3.5 hrs - £48

Excursion prices are subject to change and intended as a guide only.

    Casa De Campo, Dominican Republic

This is a 7,000-acre Caribbean paradise complete with water sports, spa services and multiple golf courses. Right around the corner you'll find Altos de Chavon - a stunning replica of a Mediterranean village built by local craftsmen and featuring boutiques, galleries, a museum and more. It was created in 1976 by stonecutters, woodworkers, and ironsmiths as a testament to their craft and to this region's cultural history. Not only will you find beautiful crafts and artwork to purchase, the village itself is a marvel you won't soon forget.

    Excursions include:
    4 x 4 Cane Adventure - 3.5 hrs - £32
    Catamaran sailing and snorkeling - 4.5 hrs - £30
    Skeet and trap shooting - 2.5 hrs - £47
    Saona Adreneline Adventure - 4 hrs - £38

Excursion prices are subject to change and intended as a guide only.

    Labadee, Haiti

Since Columbus first dropped anchor over 500 years ago to vie his crew some well-earned rest and relaxation, Labadee has offered travellers the quintessential Caribbean escape. Today, it’s the idyllic backdrop for hours of uninterrupted fun in the sun – on land, sea and in the air and best of all it’s exclusive to Royal Caribbean International guests. Take a stroll to hear the ‘Dragon’s Breath”, a natural blowhole in the rocks where the crashing waves create a deep, resonant roar and paddle the same amazing waters as the native Arawak Indians once did, on a guided kayak adventure to discover the rich heritage of the Haitian culture. Lots of watersports activities are available to guests in Labadee, although there is a temptation to just relax on the beautiful beaches.

    Royal Caribbean International

Royal Caribbean are the leaders in the “new” Cruising concept. Their fleet of innovative ships and cutting edge design features has conspired to create the largest, youngest and most exciting fleet in the world. Forget your traditional idea of cruising, you’ll discover these ships are a destination in themselves.

‘Explorer of the Seas’ is one the Voyager Family of ships, which include some of the largest cruise ships afloat. Its incredible size allows for a host of innovative, ‘first ever’ features and one of the highest space-per-guest ratios at sea.

The onboard facilities are amazing, and include:

Take the challenge of the first Rock Climbing Wall on a cruise ship, play basketball and volleyball on the Sports Court, or take a spin around the Roller-blading and Jogging Track. For golf enthusiasts, there’s a 9-hole miniature Golf Course, or rent a pair of skates and have a go on the world’s first Ice Skating Rink on a cruise ship.

    ShipShape Spa

For a feeling of total well-being you might want to try a soothing spa treatment – like a massage or mudbath, facial, pedicure or manicure.

    ShipShape Fitness Centre

The onboard fitness centres feature aerobics, step classes, stretch classes, free weights and workout equipment like cycling machines, steppers, treadmills and other cardio-boosting machines.

    Royal Promenade

    Be Entertained

From the majestic 1,350-seat Theatre, to Studio B’s hi-tech entertainment complex, or the intimate piano sounds of High Notes Jazz Club, there’s entertainment on every scale. The screening room shows all the latest movies and there is a superb nightclub to dance the night away.

    Casino Royale

Somewhere between Las Vegas and Monte Carlo, Casino Royale is always a fun place to be, whether your game is Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Caribbean stud poker or slot machines.

    Find a Quieter Moment

There are plenty of intimate places for those quieter moments, like the Connoisseur Club for fine brandy, the Champagne Bar for elegant aperitifs; the Seven Hearts for cards and table games; the calm of the twin-decked Library, or the Crow’s Nest Observation Lounge for fantastic views over the seas.

    Option of Bar

A wide variety of bars and pubs including the themed Schooner Bar, Aquarium Bar, Champagne Bar and Pool Bar with waiter service.

    Sun Deck and Solarium

In addition to the family orientated Adventure Beach, there is an adults only area of deck with a more relaxed feel. This includes a solarium and indoor pool, whirlpool and café bar.

    Cabins

All qualifiers will be allocated a cabin with the following specification :

    - Balcony Cabin
    - Queen Size bed or two Single Beds (Twin) if requested
    - Private balcony
    - Sitting area with sofa
    - Private bathroom

The balcony cabins allocated to us will be a minimum grade of E3 or above.

Cabins will be allocated according to qualification / buy-in date. .

If you wish to upgrade your cabin please contact our Cruise Team and they can talk you through the other cabin grades available and the costs associated with upgrading your cabin.

Some cabins can accommodate additional passengers either in pull down bunks or on sofa beds. The cost for additional passengers is £415 including taxes and gratuities. Please contact the Cruise Team to discuss if you wish to bring extra passengers on the cruise.

On Board Charges (including gratuities, service charges and taxes)

A cashless system operates on board all Royal Caribbean Ships. If you have cruised before, you will be familiar with this system. Cash is not used anywhere except in the Casino. All purchases onboard are made with your Seapass Card, which also identifies you when entering and exiting the ship.

With your final travel information and tickets sent out approximately 2 weeks before we travel, you will receive a charge account form. This should be completed before you travel and, upon boarding, your credit card will be swiped to allow for all on-board charges to go on to your Celebrity Seapass Account. You can use VISA, MasterCard and American Express. Alternatively, if you do not have a credit card, you can put a cash credit on your Celebrity Seapass Account when you board (US dollars only). You will be notified when your credit is running low and you can top it up as necessary. Royal Caribbean do not accept personal cheques.

At the end of the cruise you will receive a completely itemized statement and you will be asked to sign and settle this before you disembark.

Banking facilities on board include a foreign exchange service and cash point machines. However, the cash point machines only carry a limited amount of cash and the ship can not guarantee that they will be serviceable at all times.

On all Royal Caribbean ships, it is customary to tip staff members to cover stateroom and dining room service for adults and children. Ladbrokes have pre-paid your on board gratuities and taxes in advance of your Poker Cruise, however an additional service charge of 15% for all bar and wine bills is automatically added to your SeaPass Account which you will pay at the end of the cruise.

    Explorer Day Spa
